Driving Force

Steve Taylor has been turning 49 for years, but the birthday fib is with good reason. Every August, in honor of his “Annual 49th Birthday,” Steve and his wife, Ann, (pictured right) host a Diaper Drive Party for Any Baby Can. Friends gather to socialize and enjoy the couple’s signature margaritas, but instead of gifts for Steve, guests bring Wish List donations for Any Baby Can – everything from diapers to baby clothes to nursery equipment. Steve, who is an ABC Advisory Council member and former Board Member, says it’s important to support Any Baby Can because, “The agency plays a critical role in our community serving our neighbors who are most desperate for assistance, guidance and education.”

This August, as Any Baby Can’s fiscal year came to a close, funding was very tight. So tight, in fact, that the agency held an urgent fundraising appeal. Steve and Ann once again stepped up to the plate. In lieu of hosting the Diaper Party, the couple offered friends a unique opportunity: instead of attending a party, make a cash donation to Any Baby Can and Steve and Ann would match gifts, dollar to dollar, up to $2,500. Would-be guests rose to the occasion, making financial gifts to Any Baby Can and helping the agency reach the urgent goal. (Read more about year-end fundraising efforts in “Calm After the Storm.”) Through staunch dedication, Steve and Ann have made clear that their personal philanthropic goals align with Any Baby Can’s mission of improving the lives of children by strengthening them and their families through education, therapy and family support services.
